Little Man, Little Man

Little Man, Little Man standing there,
Your eyes bright and your skin fair,
Like a Princess from a book.
Ah, but that though is quelled by one look.
Your eyes find a place to rest,
The one who has given you the best.
The best food, and the best home
The one whom you think you own.
She fights in her mind to be known without you,
She yearns to fight for the right and the true.
But how can she do it?
She can’t leave you.
But, Little Man, What can you do?
Can you now see, she doesn’t need you?
All this time you have needed her
Without you she could learn to be her
Her own person, her own guide
Without you there is no need to hide.
Oh, Little Man, can you see it now?
She can go and leave you here,
She can leave you, and she can leave fear.
The world is hers to explore
She doesn’t need you anymore.
She never did, you see
Now she is forever free.
She can go and do whatever it is she wants,
It is only you her memory haunts.
Little Man, Little Man are you sorry to see it?
Sorry now that you can finally be it?
The lord of the house, the king on a throne
But what kind of king, rules alone?
She is gone, Little Man, She goes where she pleases
She comes and goes like the summer breezes.
Now, Little Man, with your unending hunger,
Are you sorry about the night that you hung her?
In a room with no windows,
No light from outside,
You sit alone in the room where she died.
You sit, willing her to come back,
Ah, Little Man, can you see now what you lack?
The wanting to do good for the sake of others.
See, Little Man, she didn’t love you
That is not why she stayed
She stayed because, every night when she prayed,
She prayed for you, Little Man, no matter what happened
She prayed that you would do good
See what you did to her instead, Little Man?
You betrayed, and deceived her
You bruised and abused,
Mistreated and Misused her
That is why she didn’t fight,
In that dark room on a moonless night.
She was tired of fighting you
She knew the only thing to do,
Let you do what you planned,
After all you are the man.
Little Man, Little Man sitting there
You’ve nowhere to go, so you sit and stare
Stare at the memories
Stare at the fear
Stare at the end that is coming near.
Stare at the rope, and the fate you have chosen
Stare at the future now frozen
Little Man, Little Man with your unending hunger,
Your eyes start to close, your mind starts to blunder
Memories, feelings, Regrets
Fill up your head in the minutes left.
As the lovely darkness comes,
You start to realize what you have become
A monster in silk and satin,
A thug who reads Greek and Latin.
Nothing more than a bully
Ah, Little Man, now you see your folly
But it is too late,
You see the bars of that black gate
Good-bye Little Man,
I wish you well,
Be strong Little Man,
On your decent into Hell.

This is such a marvelous story. I love it. It is one of my favorites. Its 5 stars. I like rhyming poems. The rhytm was wonderful and the theme was even better. I don't think there is anything I could critique you on. The only thing would be slightly less generic words but that almost doesnt even matter. LOVE IT!!!
