she stands
November 9, 2011
hesitating, she stands,
a pillar in a new
temple, unsure she
can support its weight;
adorned with arcs
of color, she is the sky
and embraces all
who seek her light;
she is the earth,
heady with new life
radiant in the half-light
sketching her shape;
firmly she stands,
majestic oak among
birches, cradling innumerable
lives in her arms.
