The World As We Know It
The world as we know it,
full of hate,
and full of crime
The world as we know it,
starving children,
crumbling economies
The world as we know it,
everyone too concerned,
about money and looks
The world as we know it,
where beauty means photoshopped pictures,
on a magazine page
The world as we know it,
where music means auto-tuned voices,
and meaningless lyrics
The world as we know it,
countries against each other,
warring over land
The world as we know it,
wasn’t always,
like this
The world as we know it,
used to be full of hope,
and full of joy
The world as we know it,
used to be laughing children,
thriving economies
The world as we know it,
used to be everyone too concerned,
about friends and family
The world as we know it,
used to be where beauty meant a genuine smile,
and a caring heart
The world as we know it,
used to be where music meant natural talent,
and meaningful lyrics
The world as we know it,
used to be countries with each other,
agreeing over world peace
The world as we know it,
used to be,
all of these things
The world as we know it,
if it were these things once,
it can be these things again
