Here's To Yesterday
I used to complain about
having no gloves until
I saw a man that had no hands.
He was smiling and
his teeth were rotting and
his skin was coated with the scum and
filth of the streets but
___he smiled on.
I used to think that
life was contradiction
no point if life meant
death in the end until
I saw a girl that had no breath.
She was pale and cold and
her hands were still and
though she had no life
___her story never died.
I used to complain and
I used to think but then
I saw some place
that had no mouth and
had no brain to think
or speak out against that
which takes this life away and
though we have no mouths
to speak and brains to think
___our bodies move on.
