People think I strive for attention
But the thing is, I don't really want to be seen
I am just a sad, quiet girl
Who is afraid of rejection
I put everything out in the open
But it's all lies
I wish I could put my walls down
But I am too afraid of getting hurt
Too afraid of getting pushed away
Every stabbing joke a friend says to me
I take seriously, but I still laugh
Inside I'm crying
Everytime I show someone
A little bit of the real me, I feel relief
I sigh, knowing it can only last so long
People think they know me, but do they?
Do they know I cry myself to sleep
Do they know only half of my smiles are real?
Do they know I take on everyone else's problems
Because I don't want to face my own?
I am just a shy, insecure girl
Who no one really knows
