I'm just trying to clear my conscience,
and get some peaceful sleep,
but how easy can this be,
with all the secrets that I keep.
The endless corridors of my mind,
have eroded with neglect,
yet the memories they hold;
they always seem so fresh.
Every glimpse into the past,
leaves the sting of old remorse,
I can't control the monsters,
they're simply running their course.
I fear I'll hold them with me always,
and when I try to go to sleep,
they'll crawl out from their caverns.
oh; the havoc that they'll wreak.
