To the Addict in Strife
I hope you’ve accepted the invitation
Not to be alone,
Is to live your first priority?
If not, the fall
Could be most devastating.
You can’t predict your ends,
Imagine you’re the avalanche
Changing state
Of matter, of mind--
Small drop of snow,
To white noise.
You’re the person clinging to the rock
Called the fellowship.
Hold fast to the earth,
It grounds you.
Your tears are solidifying, your fear
Marble against your cheek, concrete--
Now you might be saved.
Like detaching from active addiction,
Remember, you can’t save yourself.
When snow is up to your neck
At the mercy of those above
Frost bitten fingers, fire flickers
Don’t douse it out.
