catflap (this is a true story)
My first job was a waitress,
In a café not far from my home,
I had no problems with colleagues,
Just a cat that tended to roam.
The manager was quite friendly,
Her advice on the cat left no doubt,
If the cat jumped in at the window
I was told just to push it out.
After a while I changed my employer,
Though the nature of work was the same,
When working one day in the kitchen,
Through the door a similar cat came.
Giving no thought to the matter,
I treated the cat as before,
And just [pushed it out of the window,
Then remembered I was on the third floor.
The owner was most understanding,
I kept both my job and my pay,
An the cat who was now one life shorter,
Made an effort to stay well away
