Spectacles that reflect,
Reflecting spectacles
Hide worried eyes that dart
Back and forth as a hummingbird does.
Shaky hands adjust a sweater
Clinging tightly to a fading summer tan.
Wool clasping tightly to ankles,
Too frail to hold in the heat.
Plastic silverware goes from a plastic bowl
To crimson red lips.
A spoonful of insecurities.
Gulp.
