Childhood Innocence

Running through open fields and climbing trees

Memories of the warm summer days at the beach

The distant music approaches as the ice cream truck comes into view, the soundtrack to my life

No worries or cares

My imagination directed my life

Creating games to pass the time

Drawing my future with chalk

Always hungry for answers and reasons

Oblivious to reality

Discovering something new everyday

When the simplest of things were a treasure

Unaware I was slowly sculpting my life

Wandering barefoot through the green grass as a game of hide and seek pursued

Innocence was my protection

I never wanted to grow up
