Faith
Faith is something we thrive on
It isn’t something we ask for
Nor something learned
It’s merely a part of us
A part that gives us hope
A part that gives us dreams
A part that gives us the courage to do things we thought we couldn’t
Trust, confidence, reliance, fidelity
The ability to believe in what we’re unsure of
The hope for something more
The knowledge of a better tomorrow
We thrive on faith whether we like it or not
We live it, breathe it, cherish it
And yet it’s betrayed us
And proved us wrong
And it’s still within us
We can’t turn away from it
Or ignore it
No matter how much we want to
We can however try again
Get back up
Fix what’s broken
And then acquire more
Because at the end of the day
When the work is finished
And all is said and done
We close our eyes
And sleep
We dream
We hope
We trust
And find a reason to open our eyes again
We have faith that today will be better than yesterday
And that all is for a purpose
It’s the safety net of our life
The knowledge that our future is bright
The one thing that pushes us forward
Like an exploding firework
And we take it in like we breathe air
It encompasses us like a net
Because we live on faith
We suffer through faith
And we thrive on faith
