Ocean

I don’t want my love like a swimming pool,
On a Summer day,
Sunny and safe,
Contained and unnatural,
Predictable and transparent.

I don’t want my love like a stream,
Gurgling through the woods,
Because you can never step in the same stream twice.

I don’t want my love like a river,
Flowing Bipolar,
Sometimes low and sluggish,
Sometime flooding over,

I want my love like an ocean,
Because when it rains,
The ocean simply absorbs it and continues on,

I want my love like an ocean,
Reflecting the Sun and Moon and stars above,
Stretching out beyond the horizon,
Unfathomably deep.
