The finish was bitter...
The finish was bitter
Tang, acidic
Perhaps like too much
Salt on a lemon.
It was cool,
almost sticky
against my lips.
"Peace," it whispered
as the people passed.
For a while
that was all
there was
for many days.
But now,
my lips are again
bitter
acid, tang.
There is a burning
Just where the lips turn liquid and soft.
The white flowers are
surely gone.
I will never kiss
the finish
again.
