Did You Put Up A Fight?
Why is your head always between your knees,
Why are you always begging please?
You don’t understand it,
And I really don’t know what’s going on.
The scars start appearing,
And for your dreams I am fearing,
One day they’ll be as far gone as they can go,
Hand in hand with you happiness,
Leaving you with your haunts and those you call foe.
Did you ever put up a fight,
Did you grab onto you happiness and plead for it to not go?
I don’t think so,
I think you felt it slip away and just let it go.
You gave up before the war even started.
Fight it now,
Take a stand, Say no, Refuse to bow,
Make everything you lost come back,
Fight for everything you lack,
Fight for your dreams, you hopes, and expectations.
Won’t you start fighting now?
Do it for me, you, or anyone in your town
If you would just try,
You could overcome,
You could stop feeling the need to cry.
But you won’t fight the lost battle,
It’s already done to you,
You’re already dead in the water,
And the fight is only getting
hotter.
I would fight for you too,
But I can’t.
For if I leave you,
Even to save you from turning blue,
I fear you’ll be deader,
Than merely in the water.
