love hurts
it’s that deep, merciless stomachache that
 reaches in and
 twists and screws up
 your strings
 until surrender comes:
 head bobbing, arms flailing
squeezing and pinching your eyelids tight,
unloading your desires to the listening ear of darkness
 that he,
without any ifs, ands, or buts,
 whispers your name,
 simple and sweet.
and you know that as long as the words are escaping your lips,
 you are in control…
 …right?
 love has a knowing hand,
 five fingers unafraid to
 play the floods
 where each barrier is consumed;
 with the strength of each
 twist and squeeze,
 your insides
are so thick with your burning soul
that your eyes are the only ones left, the only ones holding back the flood.
where each tear is spread so thin,
 you forget how to cry.
 and well,
 at the end,
when the skies are blue and the birds are singing,
 everyone knows the solution is
 simply
 more love.
