Ever-changing Species Thou Art
Wanting to be fixed, never beyond 18
Young faced girl with your blush, false eyelashes and lipstick
with edible names. You hide behind all that Glitz and Glam , but for what ?
Change
Trying to fixate the impossible . 42 but foundation snaps you back to 18, when you were carefree and had natural beauty, something you wouldn’t dare let mascara define,
before you had to conceal those wrinkles and crow’s feet.
But you don’t see the beauty of yourself now. Instead you reminisce that summer of
senior year, right before College.
This memory is the window to your youth.
Trying to reach your hand through that looking glass for one last teenage laugh, one last strut in that size 2 bikini and one last glimpse of you before the change
Wanting to be fixed, never beyond 18
