breathe

it is said to calm you down
make you whole
but to me
it shuts me down
turns me off
freaks me out
it brings me back to life
to keep living
moving
dance
art
anything
it scares me
because when i stop
i am no longer living
it has stopped before
took months to return
we get one chance
one do over
one more time to live again
and its never the same
because the next time i stop breathing
i will never breathe again
