"A jury consists of twelve persons chosen to decide who has the better lawyer." -Robert Frost

Lying on my side
My cheek pressed against the floor
You've me promised again
It won't happen anymore

It starts off good
With a gentle kiss
Leading to a fight
Ending with your fist

In front of friends,
You're sweet as can be
Behind closed doors,
You're my sworn enemy

It's more than just an insult,
It's a blow to the heart
It's more than just a punch,
It's a reason to part

One day I'll find strength
One day I'll walk out
One day I won't care
That day, I don't doubt

I'll dream of "one day"
And know that I can
Walk out and say
"You call yourself a man?"

The author's comments:
I actually wrote this after a verbal fight with my ex boyfriend. It just came to me, line by line. It didn't take much thinking. My heart just spoke out. I guess it's true that hearts can be read like an open book. You just have to take the time to write it all down.
