Metaphor of Life

I grab onto the rock,
Pulling myself up with all my might,
Cautiously taking each step to the top.

I lean back in my harness,
Letting out a loud yelp,
Overcoming my greatest fears.

I gaze down at the ground 300 feet below,
Thinking about how far I’ve come,
Knowing I will make it to the top.

I look up to the sky,
Understanding I still have a ways to climb,
Realizing I will be okay in the end.

I get to the top,
Looking down once again,
Thinking about the climb I took.

It’s a metaphor of life.

My poem illustrates the struggles someone will go through in their life. It shows that with every rough time someone has, something good comes out of it, such as getting to the top of the mountain and experiencing the feeling of success.
