Untitled
First you were my flashlight
You gave me light when I needed it
Illuminating the scariest spaces when I heard a noise.
Next you were my star
Shining even in the middle of the night
Reminding me that someone was always there.
Then you were my moon
Filling the dark with radiance
Giving the night sky something to be proud of.
Finally you were my sun
Brightening every part of my day
Bursting through the clouds with your brilliance.
Now you’re just a shadow
Darkening the corners of my mind
Making me want my flashlight back.
