The Stranger

An agony like no other should have never been
this crutch that picks her up and hugs her tight.

She should have never been submitted
to this heartache that soothes her chest.

She should have not allowed
this stranger to rest his head upon her breast.

He comes in the dead of night
when she lays awake in bed
dreaming of the days when she knew how to smile
and look forward to the days ahead.
And he creeps along her sheets
and he strokes his hand along her body
from her toes to her heart
and he whispers in her ear,
"You will never escape, mon amour."

She should never have kissed this stranger in the rain of her love...
Because he just won't leave her alone...
