what in life
is the goal?
the deepest desire
within the soul?
is it fortune?
Is it fame?
to have the world
know your name?
do we long For
that gift from above
undying, endless
eternal love?
or are such goals
but Paths of Pretend?
lesser means
to a greater end?
perhaps what we pursue
isn’t tangible at all
something overlooked
something small
in our endless search
perhaps we’ve missed
that which we truly seek,
happiness
