I Dreamed a Dream
I've been here so long, I don't remember anything else
Everything is black; I can no longer tell if my eyes are open or closed
I think that they used to call this dark, but I don't remember
I think someone told me to stay here a long time ago
But I have always been too afraid to move away
To pass the time I must use the other senses to see
I must be sitting on a box of some sort
It is hard and smooth, with very sharp corners
The air tastes a bit like salt; around me the air feels slightly chilly
The air stirs around me just enough to notice
I can smell the salt when the wind blows in my face
I hear nothing; see nothing
Am I deaf and blind?
My thoughts repeat themselves now
I have forgotten too much to come up with new ones
Nothing has changed for as long as I've been here
I have no one to love; no way to try
Let me just waste away
Perhaps I'll die
