Take A Peek
I stand here now looking at my life
and it comes as no surprise,
things haven't been anywhere near as smooth
as I saw them through child-like eyes.
I thought life's road would be level and wide.
I thought it would never bend.
I thought when good things came,
the consequences wouldn't override.
I quickly learned that life doesn't work that way.
Good fortune can't always be mine.
I learned that I can't always win.
The sun doesn't always shine.
I learned that when troubles arrive,
you shouldn't waste your time with sorrow.
But get back on your feet,
and try again tomorrow.
