Crash Pack #1
Fifty deaths by car crash-
I can’t take it anymore.
The Driver’s Ed instructor tells me to highlight
The words that stand out in my brain
1)
Slid on the rain
2)
Died with no pain
3)
Changing a lane
4)
Blood stain
5)
Street main
6)
Highway-
Am I insane?
Six meaningless ideas…What is to remain of these quick-deaths?
So fragile we are that a
Metal bar, tree, fence, another
Human being can
End us.
We must hide and pretend
That we are
Meaningless
These words repeat and repeat
Fade and reappear, and in multi-colored
Highlighter we try to understand.
Fear
Shakes me to my core
I feel fragile, faint
Fading. I don’t think I should read
Anymore.
But the colors
Stick to my soul.
The car swerving
Out of control,
So totally out of control.
