"Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present." --Marcus Aurelius

Your sick polluted heartbeat, a
Delusion that we shared
Like a night that I can hardly
Remember, you are there
Behind my mind, a vision
That perhaps I might have wasted
On a sugar-sweet derision
That my bitter heart has tasted
But I can't seem to prosper
From the time that I put into you
I can't seem to make it work
Despite the hurt that I spend wanting you
So tell me if I'm broken by
The pain I put before you
If I leave it all behind again
Will the lies they told me now come true?
And what of all your promises?
They spread around me, still unspoken
Not quite a bloody memory
But not quite still unbroken
