To write a poem is sometimes hard,
One weighs himself against The Bard,
Looks for rhythm, verse, and rhymes
That cause plainest words to chime
As a bell, from words wrought,
That resonates through idle thought
How often we have tried and failed
Our most vivid words seem cold and pale
And our most eloquent speech, a harsh din
But I’m a romantic, so I’ll try again
