I am Myself

I should care.
I know I should.
I should hate
That you’re mad
At me
I should hate
That you won’t talk
To me
I should hate
That you think mean things
About me
And I should hate
That you won’t be
My friend.
But I don’t
Because you laughed
At me
Because you lied
To me
Because you said mean things
About me
Because you were never
My friend.
So don’t think you’re
So powerful
Don’t think I’m twisted around
Your finger
Don’t think I
Need you
Because you’re afraid
To see
What everyone else sees.
You’re afraid to see that
You need me.
And you’re afraid
To know
What everyone else knows
You’re afraid to know that
You can’t hurt me
Because I am myself
And no one can change that.
