Breakfast
Early Monday morning
The sun has yet to reach the sky
I simply can’t help but wonder
Why me? Oh why?
I’m not exactly a morning person
No I can’t say I’m in the best of moods
I just would like some more sleep
The first word I tend to grumble is: FOOD
I stumble down the stairs to my usual station
The corner chair at the kitchen table
It’s time for the first meal of the day
Complete with every staple
I pour the cereal into a bowl
Filled right to the brim
Add a quick dash of milk and a spoon
And I’m ready to dig in
I peer down at the middle of my bowl
And a little green “O” seems to be there
I sit perplexed
How did you get here?
This Fruitloop in a bowl of Cherrios
So colorful and brave as can be
Looks so peculiar and out of place
Seems to be a lot like me
Maybe this was a sign
Just to brighten my day
That little green circle
Delightfully paved my way
It’s funny how some things
No matter how small or compact
Cause us to stop and think
And make such a big impact
