You pointed me
in a general direction
and said
There, follow this.
Then you filled up my tank
and gave me the keys
You didn't say the gas
would last forever.
I couldn't foresee the melt downs.
You didn't say that sometimes
the road would be bumpy.
I didn't expect the detours
to be so scenic
falling leaves, blossoming flowers
colors to paint the time
that goes by.
You didn't give me a map
or even directions.
You gave me
the ride of my life.
