"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." -Coco Chanel

I have climbed the mountain
Just when I have reached the summit
I feel like I can fly
Then I fall
But I don't stop to look at my bruises
I get back up
Lace my boots up again
And start climbing
Again and again
Until I know the climb so well
That I have learned from my mistakes
And I will not fall
But if you fall
Climb again

The author's comments:
The central metaphor to this poem is comparing the struggles and complications of life to what I imagine climbing a mountain would be like. Although you will face challenges, you cannot give up.

You are the strongest, bravest young lady I know, and I'm proud to call you "grandaughter."
