A mother speaks in her child
when she is single,
and sometimes lets the friends of men
dress him in costumes
when she falls ill. There is no money
to a mother who watches her son,
or daughter, on days like Halloween
when they bring him back
and he bears no yearn
to the sweets he was told he would find
at the doors
in his bucket.
