Shades of pink
paint the fading sky.

Streaks of soft orange
intertwine on the horizon.

Stars emerge in the night
like butterflies from cocoons.

Birds harmonize one final song
before subsiding to the faint
chirps of crickets.

Honking can be heard in the distance
as drivers weave
through waves of traffic.

Houses lie silently
on streets waiting
to welcome families home.

Porch lights begin to flicker
and illuminate the darkness
as sighs of relief sweep the neighborhood.
