Thump Thump Boom
Thump Thump Boom
Loud drums fill the neighborhood with enthusiasm

Spinning like multicolored flowers
The skirts of women flutter cheerfully

Shwoosh Shwoosh
Swirling water changes shades
As multihued powder is added

Colorful cloudy air is filled with
Rich red
Deep Orange
Light yellow
Smooth blue
And
Lime green
The thickness of the air
Is like looking through a forest

Whoosh Whoosh
Color and water solutions shoot across the air
Aiming for their opponents

Elephants guarding the king’s palace
Dance to the beat of the drum
Almost knocking down
Delighted guards sitting on top

Laughter
Vivid colors
Excitement
Love
Music
And
Life
Flourished the neighborhood

Somewhere in the middle
Of this blissful commotion
Giggling Radha hides behind her friends
Escaping from Krishna’s water gun

Krishna
Unaware of Radha’s trap
Sneaks on Radha spraying her with pink liquid
Just before Radha smears black powder on Krishna’s face

Defeated
Krishna grabs a handful of
Red and orange powder
For revenge

Chasing Radha
Krishna grabs her and
Stains her like the intense sun

Laughing
The two lovers joyfully run to their mates
Playing with the colors of the rainbow
Gokul explores Holi
