A strong word
Four meaningless letters
Often, overly used
Wrongly said as "thank you"
Know all about it?
The knowledge of a doorknob
A dictionary couldn't define
Love
Protective as a father;
Snatching a dog about to get his son's throat
Faithful as a cancer patient;
Praying day and night for a chance
Selfless as Jesus was;
Dying so we wouldn't suffer
Understanding as a woman;
Finding out she's had a miscarriage
Promising as a virgin;
facing temptation everyday
Addicting as meth;
To a man who lost everything
Worthy as a friend;
Who would climb mountains and jump canyons
A feeling
Unexplainable
Indescribable

The author's comments:
This piece was actually an assignment in my Pre-AP English class. My teacher told me to write a love poem, so I did. I didn't want it to be one of those sappy ones, so I just wrote what love means to me. I hope that when you read this, it made you realize what love really is. Not what it appears to be. Everyone loves someone. Well I hope you enjoy! :)
