Mr. Grim
You took a lot away
And you’re still taking
Not from only me
But my family and
Even my friends.
You’re the one dressed in black.
You’re the night.
A mystery.
When you take them away
It’s always a shock.
You’re the one we hate,
You make us cry
We wonder why.
I guess everyone meets you,
But I must ask
Did you have to take the people
I never got to know?
My Grandpa
My Grandma
My uncles
My cousin
You took a lot away.
It’s not fair.
It’s not fair.
I don’t care how you are the ruler of death,
How you congratulate them at the finish line of their lives.
I don’t care.
I don’t care Grim,
I just want them back.
In time after, I’ve heard every story.
After I’ve said goodbye.
That is when you can have them back.
As long as you promise
I’ll get to see them again
Once I cross that finish line as well.
You took a lot away.
Honesty stands alone here,
I hope to never meet you,
I have seen how you destroy families,
Much like you’ve destroyed mine.
I hope you have felt this pain, Mr. Grim.
I hope you know how it feels.
And you’re still taking.
