The sound of his howl,
so low and deep,
the sound of his howl,

so sad, so sweet.

The pounding feeling,
in his runaway feet,
the pounding feeling,

in his chest so deep.
He was chased out,
at such an early age,

he didn't know what to do,

but he needed to turn the page.

So young and strong,
the wolf roams on and on,
his curiosity leads him in the night,

his eternal instinct told him to fight.

He needs belonging,
he needs a friend,
this lone lifestyle,

needed to end.

He shares his pain,
he howls all night long,
he yearns for the feeling,

to belong.

Everyday is a journey,
everyday has no plan,
everyday is a beginning,

everyday he wishes to an end.

The wolf continues through his life,
just trying to figure out,
what's wrong or right,
to figure out,

how not too bite.

He learned to mistrust, to not believe,

he learned to hate and wouldn't see,

that he had friends in the forest,
fighting to help him win,
friends in the forest,

they were his godsend.

They raised him up, taught him right,
raised him up, taught him how to fight,
his confidence grew his howl sharpened,
he was quicker on his feet,

and the pain of before stopped running so deep.

But he still need that sense of belonging,

that was his one true haunting.

He was scared of what he might become,
he was scared of being his bitter mom,
she snipped him and scarred his soles,
she attacked him,

and damaged his soul.

Memories of life wake him up every new moon,

memories of death cause him to run.

He ran his feelings calling up to the sky,

he left his friends too scared to say bye.

He began running,
it was his addiction,
his feet were bleeding,

but he didn't notice the afflictions.

He ran away his problems,

ran away from his fears.

He ran until sunrise,
he ran until it was clear,
he hardly stopped, he could hardly breathe,
he hardly ate, but he didn't dream,
he didn't know what to want,
he didn't know how to stop,

it never occurred to him,
that maybe he just needed to be what he was within.

He stopped his running, stopped his pain,
he began to hunt and search,

for some wild game.

He learned to trust once more,
he finally opened his eyes,

and let his heart soar.

He flew through the lands learning everything he missed,

he flew through the lands feeling the gentle winds kiss.

He learned his lesson he finally felt right,
he felt his beautiful coat gleam,
he raised his snout up,
raised it to the sky,

and closed his eyes.

His mind went wild his heart beat fast,
his tongue went dry and he knew it was all the past,

he didn't know where he came from he started to not care,

he had enough of all the weight he could bear,
he had enough,
he was finally done,

with his life's nightmare

life had i loved the more
had it but passed away
as quietly as the day
ebbs from the darkening star.
