Let Go of the Rope

A wise man told me once
to let go of the rope
that was making my hands red.
I took in what he said,
weighed it in my head
then looked at my palms
that were covered in scars.
I planned on going far
with that rope in my fingers
because the pain that it brought
did not linger long,
but maybe I am wrong.
This rope
that I have been holding so tightly
has broken glass
that makes my blood run brightly
and brush-burns my skin.
It ties to him,
and now that he is stranded
I will drop this rope
and keep going, empty-handed.

I can feel your journey and pain. You are a very expressive writer. Check out some of my works. You are well on your way! <3
