Once Upon a Time
Once upon a time I had you,
not as my own,
but close enough.
Free for me to love,
in my own little ways.
Once upon a time I lost you,
to distant waves of feelings.
Somewhat cold,
leaving me confused,
but determined to find out why.
Once upon a time I watched you,
from my own distance,
watched you grow,
loved you more,
still hoped.
Once upon a time I found you,
the one I remember,
the one I loved,
reaching out again,
full of smiled and laughter.
Once upon a time I lost you,
in a different way,
in the worst of ways.
Never to see your smile,
or hear your laugh again.
Once upon a time I loved you,
but that will never change.
