The feathers are dampened with grit and grease
The animal finally has some peace
From the hard work of seconds before
Though some matters are ever pending
The little thing is now descending
Down upon the forest floor
The fallen leaves are cushion enough
To slow the fall of those not as tough
An owlet, newly born.
