a true friend
You saw right through my pretenses
you looked right through my mask
you knew just when I needed a hug
I never needed to ask
You showed up when I was lonely
you stayed when I was depressed
all of my rude comments
you shruged away in jest
You saw all my dark
you saw all my light
you were always by my side
even when I wasnt right
You cheered up me when I was sad
you caught me when I fell
How did you come to earn my trust,
when I trusted no one else at all?
Now look what i have done,
ive told you that you are no longer in my life; when you would never turn me away
ive pushed you away knowing that you would be there for me everyday.
ive taken for granted that you would hold me when I was feeling sad.
or that you would rejoice when i was feeling glad.
ive ruined us, you would know the right thing to say, you would put it gentley,
to make the pain go away.
A friend like you i hoped would stay.
Now youve gone away,
and i know it was my fault,
i took you for granted,
so i think i should say,
you were a true friend,
always and forever,
