The Fear of Striking Out
Sometimes I wonder if my love is near,
Because I have not yet found someone so dear.
Maybe I am scared so I put up a front,
Giving off an impression of pomposity, that can be so very blunt.
I don’t do this on purpose I just don’t want to get hurt;
I have so many friends who’ve had their hearts ripped out and thrown in the dirt.
My problem is that I always second guess and over think,
Which will only lead to my love passing me by in a single blink.
I really have to take a risk in this game of love
And let my heart wander and soar like a dove.
At worst, what will happen is I’ll end up more wise
And I’ll know what boy to stop for and what boy to pass by.
It’s like that saying, “don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game”,
So I guess not finding the courage to walk up to bat would be a real shame.
That is why I, Kristen, will without further ado,
Take my own advice about love and will see what will ensue.
