Terror
As I slowly walked along the hallway,
It was pitch black, and never ending.
Soon I saw a flickering light looming closer and closer
As I kept walking.
There was some kind of thick liquid on the floor,
But I thought it was just water.
I thought wrong.
As I walked closer to the light I saw.
The floor was covered with thick blood, it was dripping down the walls.
I was petrified.
I was wondering why they convinced me to come.
They said this was just a haunted house,
But I am sure that the blood was real.
I started to slow down my pace,
growing more and more afraid.
I could see shadows and shapes on the walls that closed me in.
But there was no one else with me.
This is no haunted house,
At least not the kind that I would ever go into.
They said it would be fake,
But obviously they were lying.
Suddenly, I saw a door at the end of the hallway.
Should I go in there?
Is that where they are?
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Someone was screaming,
Louder and louder at every minute.
It was coming from right behind me.
In fear, I ran forward to the door,
Hoping they were there.
The door was locked,
It wouldn’t budge.
I pounded on it as hard as I could,
Hearing the screams drifting closer and closer.
The door creaked slowly open,
As if it wasn’t locked.
But, having no time to ponder that thought,
I stormed into the room,
And slammed the door behind me.
The screaming had stopped.
Out of breath, and terrified,
I searched for a light switch.
It was pitch black inside the room,
And uncomfortably silent.
My heart was pounding
As I blindly felt the walls.
I was thinking over and over,
Why oh why did I come!?!
But something interrupted my thoughts.
I was not alone.
I heard footsteps on the cold tile floor of the room.
There were loud grunting noises after each footstep.
I opened my mouth to scream,
But absolutely nothing came out.
The footsteps were coming closer,
The grunts becoming louder.
I slid down to the floor, and sat there
Clenching my eyes shut.
I tried the door, but could not get out.
Suddenly, I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder,
Shaking me.
I started to kick and scream.
But then I woke up.
My mom was sitting on my bed,
She was the one trying to shake me awake.
Taking a deep breath of relief,
I calmed myself down.
For it was only a dream.
