The lines on her face told the entire story
The hardship, the hurt, the pain;
But the smile on her face told more
The love, the happiness, the joy.

The crevasses that lined her face
Became deeper with all the injuries
That came with this life she lived.
But they were made deeper and multiplied
By the pleasure of who she spent it with.

When she was she was stunning.
Beauty that none could compare,
With age her flawless skin began to sag and wrinkle,
Her hair began to drain of the dark rich color.
But the deep lines were more like rivers of happiness
And the silver hairs just made her richer.

Happiness and love overcame despair and hatred.
She learned the agony of hate, sadness, depression and jealousy
But more importantly she learned the joy of pure love.

This piece was inspired by a photo I took of an old woman in a village in Ukraine.
