Respect
You walk in the door loud and obnoxious
So I tell you to shut it.
You tell me to be respectful towards
You say, “I’m your father”
Why should I show respect towards a man
Who does not deserve my respect?
You’ve been M.I.A for 14 years of my life.
And now you seem to think you can just waltz back in
And expect me to forgive for all those times
When you’ve been drunk three straight days in a row
Or when you would disappear for weeks
Or when my mother flew half way across the country
To make sure you weren’t going to die
Cause you got into an accident
Drunk driving again
Mind you it’s not the first time
Should I forgive you for the time
I was at a cheer practice and I got a call from a number I didn’t know
So I answered it and they said it was the prison
And you wanted to talk to me
I still believed in you then thought you were amazing
I didn’t believe them and hung up
15 minutes later my mom called
And asked if you’d called
That’s when it hit me
That’s also when I learned all those accidents
Were from drunk driving.
Why I should show you respect?
