The Storm Before the Storm
Why do I have to leave?
Why now?
What's so urgent?
Where are we going?
Questions that run through my mind,
And they never cease,
That I do not know the answer
For I do not yet know the cause.
No one has the time for questions,
Packing is most important.
Suitcase, dog, and pillow.
That's all I am allowed to bring.
Holly is going to Florida,
Erica to Texas,
And Emily to Mississippi.
But where am I going?
"Aunt Annie's House, across the river," my parents say,
but "away" is all I hear.
I am going away,
And I am waiting to find out just what could cause this storm of chaos.
