I knew that was the day to be thankful,
but I couldn't figure out what for, everything in my life was dull
Different, that's how I wished things could be,
but it didn't seem like a possibility
I pulled out a piece of paper, telling them I'd be back later, but really I'd be gone like vapor

I didn't know where I was going
Could barely follow the dirt road, for little was showing
But I wasn't gonna stop, thoughts of leaving never left my mind
Wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for or what I'd find
Out of what was my little town, I walked and walked
I was alone, desolate

The snow so cold, it burned my face
Falling so quickly, it covered my footprints, leaving no trace
