What I Was Missing
how did I sleep
breathe
live
before
before, in the night
I could reach out for your hand
and find it
and pull myself closer
I don't understand
now that,
gone again
that was not all I wanted
I didn't know what I was missing
now
I do not feel the same kind of lonely
as before
now
it feels as if you took a knife
and carved out something
important
the only explanation
I can find
is that what ever you took
you put it there first
and before that
I didn't need it to survive
