Red Importance

November 21, 2010
The heat of summer,
My face when he walks by,
Blood that trickles from wounds,
Mentally and physically,
My blotchy eyes after a self-defining cry,
The hand print on my cheek,
After being a smart mouth,
Valentines I won't ever get,
From the right person,
The wilting roses one mamaw's grave,
My lips before a date,
A cherry on top of a sundae,
The lid to my favorite drink,
The ketchup smiley on my burger,
The tomatoes in grandma's garden,
The ink grading my paper,
The stripes on our flag,
My toenails chipping away,
Like your confidence,
