The days so long
meshed together
like fallen leaves decomposing
into the autumn ground
the world spinning
in a million directions
The days so long
yet there is no time
no way to split one
into four, three, or even two
only the one can choose
the days so long
feeling lost when searching
the archives of my mind
cannot tell between
the quiet nights
and crazy days
the days so long
filled with laughter
fun, and excitement
the days so long
always moving
always talking
as the black cat walks near
the days so long

The author's comments:
I received my inspiration for this piece during the first few weeks of college. My days were so busy and long, and on a day that I felt ready to pass out from exhaustion, I wrote this poem.
